Fiestas:
Santa Margalida: 20 July
Santa María del Camí: 8 September
Always
well known for the
quality of its wines and liqueurs, Santa María del
Camí, in the Es Raiguer area of Mallorca, was a convenient
place
to pause en route to Palma de Mallorca. In fact, during Arab rule it
was known
as Maüia
meaning "wayside stop".
It
has an eighteenth century baroque church whose very
distinctive
blue tiled campanile is a local landmark.
It
is an excellent starting
point for hikers wishing to visit the hermitage at Puig de Son
Seguí, the
Coanegra Valley and the Son Pou cave.
