The San Marçal Fiestas in 2007 provided the occasion to introduce the new Marratxi giant modelled on the saint himself.

Unfortunately, rather than a painted lifelike figure, it is a further adaptation of a siurell and bears no resemblance to the saint. Its crozier is tucked under its arm rather like a walking stick!

However, more realistic saintlike siurells are on sale in the market, which is laid out in front of the Church, along with other examples of Mallorcan pottery and handicrafts, including very lovely hand embroidered linens.
