Biographies. Overview.

Potted biographies on those who have visited Mallorca throughout history and linked their name permanently to triumphs and advances of the Island.

For their contributions to the field of science, such as Francois Arago who measured the meridian, to engineering by Paul Bouvij who drained the swamps of the Albufera, to the arts by Abraham Cresque, the great medieval cartographer, and to knowledge of the Island at the turn of the eighteenth century, that indefatigable traveller, the Archduke Ludwig Salvator, who bought up much of the Island he loved and recorded his impressions in words and drawings.

And those who spread her fame abroad, Ramon Llull, the great medieval scholar, and Father Junipero Serra who carried her fame to the Americas and founded the city of Los Angeles.
